I’d actually rather cut arts funding than librarians. Cutting in arts funding is a travesty, but cutting librarians is a sin. :( They don’t just provide research resources, they introduce kids to other worlds and books they wouldn’t have picked up otherwise.

See the Quote Below??
Well I’m doing it! There is no path, but I am forging one anyway. I’m focusing on the work, and all of a sudden I look behind me, and there’s the teeny little beginning of a path!! It’s working, people! It’s a freaking miracle! I am having such a good day!
Do not go where the path may lead. Go instead where there is no path and leave a...

I take pictures of things. Sometimes I blog them for Ithaca College’s events blog, Rattle. More often, I post them to my Photography facebook page. I like sharing them with people and occasionally getting a comment in response. :)

On Generosity in the Theatre →
A great piece that includes a few good rules of thumb. I too am of the opinion that there isn’t enough generosity in this business, especially in colleges and universities. There’s too much competition and not enough support for fellow artists and collaborators.

I’m pasting this everywhere I can because the stage manager interviewed is one of my best friends and this makes me SO proud of him. I miss him more than any of my friends because I haven’t seen him in more than a year, which SUCKS and makes me super sad every time I think about it. He graduates in May and I’m sure he’ll go on and be a Broadway stage manager or something...

I Don't Make Theatre for Theatre Artists
I went to a meeting today in which I was reminded who I make theatre for. It is so easy to lose your focus on the real world in a department as focused as this one, and I think a lot of students make the mistake of thinking that they make theatre for their peers and for their professors. Well, I don’t make theatre for theatre artists.
I make theatre for my mother, who listens to show tunes...
I just want to read things and think about things and develop ideas and make art that matters to me.
College is making that difficult, which seems to me to be counterproductive. I read things and I think about things, but they’re not what I’m inspired by at the moment.
How to work around this? Hmm…

Maybe
Maybe I’ll go to Berlin. Maybe I’ll move to San Francisco after college. Maybe I’ll grow up and make art and fall in love with cities and go home for Christmas. Maybe one day someone will buy one of my photographs, maybe one day I’ll write a play, maybe one day I’ll make an impact.
After all I said maybe one day I’d fall in love and maybe one day I’d...
